history

SINCE 1970

Jean-Pierre Provost has been working in construction since the age of 15. When his employer at the time started talking about sending him to work in Halifax, Jean-Pierre decided to launch his own construction company so he could settle down in the Laurentians.

In 1970,
having secured a $1,500 bank loan, Jean-Pierre incorporated CONSTRUCTIONS J.-P. PROVOST in partnership with Francine Laurin Provost and Yvan Provost. The beginnings were modest, with the construction jobs being carried out during the day and the evenings being reserved for sales, accounting and bids. Having no available warehouse space at that time, they had to store the equipment in the basement of the family home.

Business began to boom as early as 1971 – both in construction and renovation.
Focusing on quality services above all else, the team poured its own concrete and erected its own roof trusses. That same year, CONSTRUCTIONS J.-P. PROVOST spearheaded a major construction project for the Claude Forget sawmill, managing the complete installation of its equipment. To meet the deadlines, the team worked 7 days a week.

During the 1970s,
the company’s client list grew, especially with the VILLAGE PINOTEAU condominium project in Mont-Tremblant. This was followed by the construction of the GRAY ROCKS ski resort and, in 1978, the installation of its first chairlifts. The TREMBLANT ski centre followed suit, calling upon the Provost family to set up its chairlifts. The concrete for the structures and frames had to be poured by helicopter.

Residential and commercial construction and renovation projects, both big and small, continued throughout the 1980s and 1990s. MARCHÉ MÉTRO and UNIPRIX joined the company’s roster of clients during this period, followed by TELEGLOBE, which presented the team with a new challenge of installing satellite antenna bases and underground concrete structures.

Over the years, CONSTRUCTIONS J.-P. PROVOST
has built a solid reputation for its quality work during every phase of a project. This tradition of excellence will be carried on by Jean-Pierre’s sons, Éric, David and Miguel, who, from an early age, demonstrated a marked interest in the trade when following their father on construction sites.

Since 2000,
the company has been under the management of Jean-Pierre’s son. They each play an active role in the various projects, including on-site job supervision. Clients such as the Quintessence HOTEL, Château Beauvallon, Ermitage du Lac rely on the high-quality services of the Provost family. CONSTRUCTIONS J.-P. PROVOST has also carried out many renovation projects, including, among others, those of the Clinique médicale St-Jovite, NATIONAL BANK, SAQ and CLAUDE FORGET INC.

As we enter a new era,
CONSTRUCTIONS J.-P. PROVOST pursues its successful development. With the introduction of new innovative technologies and products along with log homes and energy-efficient houses, the young, dynamic team is continuing the Provost tradition of excellence.
